SpeakReady is an English test speaking practice application that helps users prepare for English speaking tests through AI-powered feedback. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
We do not sell user data to third parties or show advertisements. Our focus is solely on providing a quality English test preparation experience while respecting your privacy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in using Sign in with Apple, we collect:
- Your email address
- Your name (if provided)
- A unique user identifier
This information is used to create and manage your account, track your free trial usage, and sync your subscription status.
Audio Recordings
When you practice speaking and choose to receive AI feedback, we ask for your permission before uploading your response for processing. With your permission, the following practice data is transmitted securely to our servers:
- Your audio recording
- The transcript generated from your audio recording
- The selected practice topic and cue card prompts
We use this data only to transcribe your response, evaluate your speaking practice, generate feedback, and save your resulting practice history. Your audio recording is not permanently stored after processing is complete.
Third-Party AI Processing
To provide feedback, we share limited practice data with third-party AI service providers:
- OpenAI: our third-party AI provider, receives your audio recording to transcribe it using Whisper, then receives the transcript, selected practice topic, and cue card prompts so an AI model can generate speaking feedback and band score estimates.
These providers process the data to deliver the requested AI features. We do not use your audio recordings, transcripts, topics, or feedback for advertising or profiling. We also do not use them to train our own AI models, and we do not permit or opt in to third-party AI model training or model-improvement use for this data. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train or improve OpenAI models by default unless the customer opts in.
We require third-party service providers we use to protect personal data with appropriate safeguards and confidentiality obligations that provide the same or substantially similar level of protection described in this policy.
Practice Data
We store your practice history, including:
- Topics you have practiced
- Feedback, transcripts, and scores received
- Timestamps of practice sessions
This data is stored locally on your device and associated with your account to provide practice history features.
Analytics Data
We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage analytics to help improve our app. This includes:
- Device information (model, operating system version)
- App version
- Feature usage patterns
- Session duration
This data is collected anonymously and is used solely for understanding app usage patterns and improving our service.
Crash and Diagnostic Data
We use Sentry to collect crash reports and diagnostic information so we can identify and fix technical problems. This may include device information, operating system version, app version, error details, and our internal account identifier for signed-in users. We use this data only for app security, debugging, reliability, and performance.
Third-Party Services
- Clerk: We use Clerk for authentication. Your sign-in information is handled according to their privacy policy.
- OpenAI: We use OpenAI's Whisper API to transcribe audio recordings and OpenAI's GPT model to generate speaking feedback after you grant permission for AI processing. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train or improve OpenAI models by default unless the customer opts in. Your practice data is processed according to OpenAI's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat for subscription management. Payment information is handled by Apple and RevenueCat according to their privacy policy.
- Mixpanel: We use Mixpanel for anonymous analytics as described above. Learn more in their privacy policy.

Data Retention
Audio recordings are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers. Your account information and practice history are retained as long as you maintain an active account. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings or by contacting us.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure authentication via Clerk
- Limited data retention periods
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Export your practice history

Children's Privacy
SpeakReady is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
